Health dept begins anti-malaria campaign
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government had set up a target to eradicate malaria from the district by the end of this year.“We have set our own target and hope that not get a single case of malaria will be detected in the district this year,” he said. The prevention from mosquitoes is a big step in this regard and the department is focusing on checking mosquito breeding, he said.
The District Health Department began the ‘zero malaria starts with me’ campaign as part of its anti-malaria month programme here on Monday. Civil Surgeon Hardeep Singh Ghai conducted a meeting with senior medical officers and medical officers from the district.
District Malaria Officer Dr Madan Mohan said that symptoms of malaria were high fever, severe headache, pain in joints and muscles, vomiting and breeding from nose, mouth and gums. He said in case of any of these symptoms, the patient should be taken to nearest government health facility.
